My Summer School Experience In Denmark

This July, I went to Aarhus University in Aarhus, the second-largest city of Denmark for my summer school. It was part of the GEM Discoverer program of my school, Nanyang Technological University, which students can spend their summer abroad and take courses from partner universities.

Boy was it fun. It was a trip of many firsts. It was the first time I travelled overseas alone, first time I did something insane off my bucket list and the first time I cycled so much.

I will share some of my stories here, for future students who are also considering going to Aarhus! Feel free to contact me if you need anything too, I will be glad to help.

Travel

Public transport in Aarhus is good. They have Midtraffik buses and a light rail train called Letbanen to serve the area. Some even go to other towns. The central train station also has DSB trains which connect you to other parts of Denmark.

Wherever you are planning to go, there is likely to have public transportation options.

Here are some mobile apps which I used that is helpful:

Google Maps

Classic. It is pretty reliable, showing you bus timings, train timings and directions pretty accurately. However, just like in other countries, if you are cycling or walking, it might recommend some weird routes and unnecessary detours so be careful there.
